Aren’t award shows the best? It’s always so much fun seeing the runway looks translated onto “real” people. This year, the Golden Globes red carpet was a great success: not too many disasters (OK, hello Helena Bonham Carter and Chrstina Aguilera!), many Old Hollywood glamorous looks (Catherine Zeta Jones, January Jones, Angelina Jolie) and many hip and modern young beauties (Emma Stone and Leighton Meester). But, at Sophie’s Closet, what we really look for is the jewels! And at these types of occasions, celebrities go all out! We are talking million dollar baubles. Well, we made them a bit easier to obtain by finding affordable alternatives from Sophie’s Closet.
Hollywood bombshell Scarlet Johansson looked amazing in her Elie Saab dress topped with sparkling diamonds by Van Cleef & Arpels. One can achieve a similar look with our Jennifer Behr hair pin and sparkling CC Skye bracelet.
Nicole Kidman opted for long black chandelier earrings by Fred Leighton that are very similar to our Siman Tu’s.
Catherine Zeta Jones channelled Old Hollywood glamour a la Elizabeth Taylor in her emerald green Monique Lhullier gown. Her beautiful dark brown hair down contrasted by diamond chandelier Van Cleef & Arpels earrings. Our vintage ones from Sherman are almost identical!
Oh, Jennifer Lopez: she always has the sparkliest diamonds! Her Harry Winston flower earrings gave her a bit of a cuter look than her usual spicy Latina style. We like cute and that’s why we love our Kenneth Jay Lane floral pearl earrings. Jennifer would approve.
Glee‘s Lea Michelle was a diva in pink Oscar de la Renta gown complete with a giant bow. She didn’t need much jewelry because it was such a big dress. Her little knotted Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings are definitely on the same page as our Kenneth Jay Lane crystal and pearl buds.
We are not quite sure what jewelry designer Vanessa Williams was wearing but we are in love! Notice how similar they look to Melinda Maria’s “Gwyneth” earrings?
Julia Stiles is cute and so were her H.Stern yellow and white diamond earrings. Almost identical to Bounkit’s.
Halle Berry was super sexy in her black sheer Nina Ricci dress. All eyes were on her gorgeous skin which is probably why she opted not to wear much else. Sparkly bracelets was all she needed.
Claire Danes is a minimalist and we loved her simple Fred Leighton eternity ring. For the same minimal, but much cheaper look, we suggest Lisa Freede. Her Swarovski crystals could almost pass for diamonds!
We hated Christina’s dress, but once we saw a close-up of her hands, we were (almost) ready to forgive her. But, we actually think that our Joomi Lim is prettier.
Hot Latina bombshell, Sophia Vergara, paired her bright red Vera Wang dress with a giant turquoise cocktail ring by David Webb. Clearly, this is a woman that loves colour! She would also look fab in our Rachel Leigh “Gumball” ring.
How fun was that? See you at the Oscars!
